End of Term 3 & Term 4 Remote Learning/Return to School

Principals message 16th September 2021

Good afternoon Parents and Caregivers,

This will be my last official correspondence for the term. I know that I have being saying this throughout the last few weeks but thank you so much for your support of your children at home in their learning and our school. It has been a difficult stretch of time for all of us and I sincerely appreciate your support and commitment. We know now, with the announcement last week from the Premier that remote learning will continue into Term 4, but we do now have a guide back to face to face learning. Please understand that this guide is subject to change at anytime if the health situation in the Hunter or state changes. Following is some information that will support your planning for Term 4. However, beyond this, if you have any further concerns please don’t hesitate to call me at the school.

Term 4 Remote Learning

From Week 1 Tuesday October 5, until Week 5 Friday November 5, we will be working remotely. All the work overviews will be placed in the same place as they were for Term 3. Please go to the school website, following the link entitled “Learning From Home Term 4 2021” and then the outline of each year cohorts programming is under “7-12 Work Overview – Term 4 2021.” The work overviews and links will not golive until Tuesday October 5, please do not look before this time. I sincerely want all students, staff and families to have a break, so I will not publish any work until this time. Our engagement monitoring protocol from this term will be in place for remote learning in Term 4. Please contact the school early in the term if you have any concerns with your child’s engagement at home. Further, I am allocating a planning day for staff and a catch up day for students, one day a week from Week 2. This will mean that on the allocated days outlined below, no staff will be online those days to work with students, they will  be utilising this time for planning, marking and report writing. If you have any questions about these allocated days please give me a call at the school.

Staggered return to school

The Premier has outlined a staggered return to school from October 25. On this date only Year 12 will return to school for face to face lessons. From November 1, Year 11 will return to face to face, and    then, from Monday November 8, Years 7-10 will return. All students will be back at school and learning face to face at this time. When we return to school we will be under restrictions to ensure we are meeting health requirements and I will communicate with you all early next term on what that will look like for Kotara High School.

Please take care, look after your families, and have a restful break, albeit at home.
