STUDY TOURS - Mrs Fitzmaurice and Ms Shield took 15 students to France recently for the experience of a lifetime. Students got to utilise and immerse themselves in the French language for the two weeks that they were travelling through the country. They visited Paris, Avignon, Aix En Provence, Nice and Monaco. Some highlights according to students were, of course, The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre Museum, The Champs Elysee,The Arch De Triumph, The Roman Ruins in the south of France and the french cuisine. It was tres magnifique!
Hopefully this is an experience that we can continue with our senior French Students.
Kotara High School's Sister School Exchange will be taking place in the April holidays, 2014. 27 students from Kotara will be participating in this study tour.
There was so much interest from students regarding this event that unfortunately numbers had to be limited.
This study tour comprises of a 3 day homestay with our Sister School, Ube Senior High School, and travelling throughout the country on the bullet train. Students get to take in the traditional Japan whilst discovering the modern Japan. This is a 14 day tour where students travel to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Ube, Takayama and the bustling city of Tokyo.
SPEECH CONTEST WINNER - Congratulations must go to one of our students, Gabrielle Newland from Year 10. Gabrielle was successful in winning a trip to Japan by entering a speech competition in Newcastle. This competition is held annually to foster relations between Newcastle and its Sister City Ube. 4 students get selected to participate in this exchange every year. We wish her all the best for this fantastic experience.
SISTER SCHOOL EXCHANGE - Thanks to the families who are hosting the 3 students and teacher coming out from Japan in August. This is a wonderful experience for all involved.
