Term 4 Remote Learning/Return to School

Principal's message Term 4

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I sincerely hope that everyone has had a restful break. I am contacting you today to remind everyone of how remote learning will take place at the start of the term and also to outline the changes to the staggered return to school, as updated by the Premier late last week. I will be available from Tuesday October 5 if anyone would like to contact me for any clarification.

Term 4 Remote Learning

From week 1 Tuesday October 5, until week 4 Friday October 29, we will be working remotely. All the work overviews will be placed in the same place as they were for Term 3. Please go to the school website, following the link entitled “Learning From Home Term 4 2021” and then the outline of each year cohorts programming is under “7-12 Work Overview – Term 4 2021.” The work overviews and links will not go live until Tuesday October 5, please do not look before this time. I sincerely want all students, staff and families to have a break, so I will not publish any work until this time. Our engagement monitoring protocol from this term will be in place for remote learning in Term 4. Please contact the school early in the term if you have any concerns with your child’s engagement at home. Further, I am allocating a planning day for staff and a catch up day for students, one day a week from Week 2. This will mean that on the allocated days outlined below, no staff will be online those days to work with students, they will be utilising this time for planning, marking and report writing. If you have any questions about these allocated days please give me a call at the school.

Week 1

On-line lessons all week

Week 2

Friday 15/10/2021 - No Teacher Facilitation of online learning

Week 3

Thurs: 21/10/21 - No Teacher Facilitation of online learning

Week 4

Wed: 27/10/21 - No Teacher Facilitation of online learning

Staggered return to school

The Premier outlined an updated staggered return to school late in the holidays, from October 18. On this date only year 12 will return to school for face to face lessons. From October 25, Year 11 will return to face to face, and then, from Monday November 1, Years 7-10 will return. All students will be back at school and learning face to face at this time. When we return to school, we will be under restrictions to ensure we are meeting health requirements and I will communicate with you all early in the term on what that will look like for Kotara High School.

Please take care, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, and enjoy the last few days of the break.
