All students at Kotara High study Geography for ONE semester during Year 9. History is studied in the other semester.

Students learn about:

· Physical characteristics that make Australia unique
· The study of ONE natural hazard:
- the nature of the natural hazard
- the geographical processes involved
- the impact of the natural hazard
- the responsibility and responses of individuals, groups and government to
the impact of the natural hazard.
5.2 Changing Australian Communities
Students learn about:
· Human characteristics that make Australia unique
· Types of Communities
· Factors causing change in Australian communities
Case study of ONE Australian community.
