At Kotara High School students in years 7-10 follow the course as laid out in the Board of Studies 7-10 syllabus.
Students study Science for at least 5 periods per two week cycle of the timetable. This generally increases to 6 periods in years 9 and 10.
Students and parents should note that all Science students at KHS are expected to make extensive use of the school's internet site for a variety of purposes. Teachers will provide students with a single copy of a homework sheet, assessment task instruction sheet, etc. but will expect that if the student misplaces their copy then the student will take responsibility and obtain another sheet by using the web site.
Students have access to a text book during science lessons. The current text book is Core Science, books 1 to 4 (published by John Wiley & Sons, Australia).
In previous years some parents have purchased their own copies of these texts for the students to use at home. They report that this has been of great benefit to the students. The Science department is always happy to purchase these books from the parents once the students have moved into the senior school.
